STRAW TYPES THAT CAN BE CRUSHED BY THE HAMMER MILL
Straw crushers can process various types of straw, including rice straw, corn straw, cotton straw, soybean straw, wheat straw, and barley straw. Hammer mills are more suitable for straw materials with a moisture content of less than 25%. As the moisture content increases, the fiber toughness increases, and the machine’s output decreases. Therefore, we recommend using straw materials with lower moisture content. Besides crop straw, other biomass materials can also be processed.
Various crop straws: This is the most important raw material, including corn stalks, wheat straw, rice straw, rapeseed stalks, cotton stalks, sorghum stalks, bean stalks, etc.

THE CONFIGURATION OF STRAW HAMMER MILL
The main components of the complete straw hammer mill include a feeding system, a crushing system, and a discharging system. The coarsely crushed straw is evenly fed into the crushing system by an underground automatic feeder, and then evenly discharged from the cyclone dust collector through a pneumatic conveying system. The entire set of equipment achieves automatic start-up and shutdown and overload protection through an automatic control system, achieving a stable and safe operating state.
- Automatic Feeding System
While an automatic feeding system is optional, based on our years of project experience, we recommend adding this system to straw crushing production lines when capacity more than 2t/h if your budget allows. This is because an automatic feeding system can automatically turn on/off based on the main unit’s operating status, protecting the crusher’s main motor and significantly reducing problems such as wrong operation due to fatigue from manual feeding and blockages caused by overfeeding. This greatly reduces average production costs.
- Hammer Milling System
Straw fiber has a very low bulk density; therefore, achieving higher crushing efficiency requires a highly efficient feeding and discharging system. Thus, compared to crushing denser wood raw materials, the straw crusher’s feed inlet needs to be enlarged, and the crushing chamber and rotor diameter are also larger than those for the same output of wood chips .
- High-efficiency discharge system:
The bulk density of the crushed straw powder is still very low ( only 100-160kgs/h based on actual), so it needs to be discharged quickly from the crushing chamber. Low-density straw raw materials are more suitable for pneumatic discharge. We use an enlarged cyclone and a high-efficiency fan. The air separated by the cyclone will enter the bag filters and be discharged into the air directly, which ensures the working environment of the workshop.
