The KXHDHM-1600 series heavy-duty hammer mill is a high-output fine grinding equipment. It consists of a triple-spiral underground automatic feeder, belt conveyor with magnetic separator, industrial hammer mill main unit, maintenance platform, double-screw discharge system, airflow distribution system, strong magnetic iron removal system, and automatic control system. It is mainly used in the second stage—the fine grinding stage—of large-scale wood pellet production lines to pulverize coarsely crushed raw materials into powders smaller than 10 mm or 16 mm.

This large-scale milling machine features a non-direct-drive design between the motor and rotor assembly, resulting in more stable operation. The pulleys utilize a 6-8 groove design for high transmission efficiency, and the 10mm thick screen is wear-resistant and has a long service life. At the feed inlet, in addition to a guide plate design to prevent material splashing, the feed inlet’s tail section allows some sand and stones to be discharged smoothly, reducing screen wear and protecting the ring die or forming die parts of downstream equipment (such as pellet mills and briquetting machines).
WHAT RAW MATERIALS CAN THE INDUSTRIAL HAMMER MILL PROCESS?

The KXHDHM-1600 heavy-duty shredder has a wide range of applications. It primarily handles crop straw, agricultural by-products, and waste wood. It can also shred some industrial and domestic waste of suitable hardness.
Crop straw and processed by-products: Corn stalks, wheat straw, cotton stalks, peanut shells, coarsely crushed palm leaves and branches, corn cobs, empty palm fruit bunches, etc.
Biomass and forest waste: Coarsely crushed branches, wood chips, bamboo chips, pallets, coconut shells, hazelnut shells, walnut shells, etc.

HOW DOES AN INDUSTRIAL HAMMER MILL WORK

Industrial hammer mills for biomass (straw, sawdust, etc.) operate on the core principle of using high-speed rotating hammers to impact and knead fibrous materials, crushing them to the required size. Unlike ore crushing, biomass crushing focuses more on tearing and dissociating fibers rather than brittle crushing.
- Working Principle: The equipment relies on the big motor to drive the rotor and hammer assembly at high speed (typically 1650 rpm) via belts. After entering the milling chamber, the material is initially crushed by the high-speed impact of the hammers; subsequently, it undergoes intense kneading and impact between the hammers and the inner screens, with mutual friction between the materials, further refining them. This allows for efficient processing of fibrous raw materials.
- Screening and Pneumatic Conveying: The crushed material is discharged through the screen under the combined action of gravity and the fan; the screen hole size determines the output material size (ranging from 1 to 15 mm). Materials that do not meet the size requested are circulated within the crushing chamber and subjected to further hammering. The system typically integrates a fan and a cyclone separator system to create negative pressure in the crushing chamber, thereby enabling the conveying and separation of the crushed raw materials.

The raw material diameter must be reduced to under 5 cm, and the moisture content should ideally not exceed 40%; excessive moisture can clog the screen and cause machine blockages, so a custom-designed screen is required to meet the final material specifications.
Can the dimensions of the final material be adjusted?
Certainly. We can adjust the diameter of the final material by modifying the screen mesh size to meet customer requirements.

The main wear parts include the screen, blades, and belts. Our blades are forged from a special wear-resistant material, which extends their service life. However, they generally need to be replaced every 5-6 months of continuous operation. Sharpening the blades with a sharpening machine in between can improve machine efficiency. Blades purchased locally by customers may experience chipping or incompatibility issues. Therefore, we recommend that customers bring several sets of spare parts when purchasing.
Does the machine generate significant noise or dust during operation?
