The main wear parts of this KXC216 drum chipper consist of three parts: the flying knife, the fixed knife, and the conveyor belt in the feeding section. The flying knife needs to be sharpened regularly, but the sharpening frequency depends on the material of the knife, the hardness of the wood, and its moisture content. Generally, softwood and fresh wood with high moisture content require much less sharpening. However, harder blades are not always better; the material and angle of the blades need to be selected based on the characteristics of the raw material to achieve the best output and operating performance.

What causes uneven wood chip size in wood chippers? How to solve it?

The main reason is worn blades or excessive distance between the fly knife and the stationary blade. The solution is: first, stop the machine and disconnect the power. Then check the blades. If the blades are dull, they need to be sharpened; if they are severely worn, replace them with new blades. If the distance between the stationary blade and the fly knife is too large, adjust the distance.

This model is more suitable for processing logs with a diameter of no more than 20 cm. If the diameter is larger than 20 cm, wood logs need to be fed one by one. If the drum chipper is overloaded, it will automatically stop feeding. If severe clogging occurs, stop the machine immediately for inspection and solve it.

After use, clean the chips residue inside the machine. Regularly check the bearings and add grease. Regularly check the tension of the driving belt; if it is too loose, adjust and tighten it. Regularly check the flying blades wear and sharpen or replace it as needed.

Wood chippers are not high-precision machines and generally do not require highly automated control. However, they must be reasonably designed and robust enough. This is because when cutting raw materials, from the feeding part to the high-speed cutting of the blades roller, the machine itself needs to be able to withstand high loads. Only a robust and durable wood chipper can maintain an extremely low failure rate.

Drum wood chippers and disc chippers are used for different raw materials. Drum chippers can process a wider range of raw materials, while disc chippers are only suitable for logs.
